I had not posted to the frontpage in a while so I thought an update was due.  After many requests for a Joomla! 1.5 compatabile version and no time to work on such a release, I am glad to announce that I have now started and partially implemented a preliminary v2.5 core CB plugin (i.e. core does not yet include extra modules, components, bots, etc.).

The next release will be v2.5 instead of v3 as I am scaling back some of the planned features for v3 to accomodate a quicker release (I know this has not been quick).

I am reorganizing the root calls to use the CB 1.2.x framework so that natively CBC should support Joomla! 1.0.x, 1.5.x, as well as Mambo 4.6.x.  Some of the internal database calls go beyond what the CB Framework offers so I still need to do some manual checking of which system CBC is running in so it can access the forum database properly (plus a few other calls).

Key New Features/Differences for v2.5:

1. should run in J 1.5, 1.0, and Mambo as mentioned above
2. replacing xAjax mambot with the jQuery code Beat already implemented in CB 1.2.x
3. replacing the older CBC prototype JS code with the jQuery code from CB 1.2.x
4. moving the admin control panel to be within the CMS backend to eliminate the need to load the core CMS files
5. No other core enhancements planned for v2.5 (so it can relase earlier)

Still not far enough down the development road to announce a planned relase date ( I will post info on this site when I get that close though ).
